Description
Warren Beatty pop art portrait. Beatty (born 1937) is an American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter in the film industry for over sixty years. During his career, he was nominated for fifteen Academy Awards: 4 for Best Actor, 4 for Best Picture, 2 for Best Director, 3 for Original Screenplay, and one for Adapted Screenplay, winning as Best Director for "Reds" (1981).
Eight of the films he produced have earned 53 Academy nominations, and he received the Irving G. Thalberg Award in 1999. His 18 Golden Globe-nominated films included "Splendor in the Grass" (1961), opposite Natalie Wood, his debut film, "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967), "Shampoo" (1975), "Heaven Can Wait" (1978), "Reds" (1981), "Dick Tracy" (1990), "Bugsy" (1991), "Bulworth" (1998) and "Rules Don't Apply" (2016).
Arthur Penn, the director of "Bonnie and Clyde," says Beatty works with his pictures through the editing, mixing, and scoring phase. "He works harder than anyone else I have ever seen." His virile good looks and magnetic antihero personality appealed to young audiences, and his popularity reached a peak with "Bonnie and Clyde."
Beatty directed his first film with "Heaven Can Wait" (1978,) which he co-directed with Buck Henry and co-wrote with Elaine May. The film was a box office success and nominated for the Best Picture Oscar.
