"Plaza Suite" is a 1971 comedy film directed by Arthur Hiller. The film is based on Neil Simon's successful Broadway play of the same name. It is an anthology film consisting of three separate but interconnected stories, all set in Suite 719 of the Plaza Hotel in New York City.
Each story features different characters and situations but shares the common setting of the luxurious Plaza Hotel. The three stories are as follows:
Visitor from Mamaroneck: In this segment, a middle-aged couple, Sam (Walter Matthau) and Karen (Maureen Stapleton), book the Plaza Suite for their daughter's wedding night. However, their daughter has cold feet, and the parents must deal with the ensuing chaos.
Visitor from Hollywood: The second story revolves around Jesse Kiplinger (Walter Matthau), a successful Hollywood producer who invites his high school sweetheart, Muriel Tate (Barbara Harris), to his suite. He hopes to rekindle their romance, but things take an unexpected turn.
