A vintage Swedish movie poster of ''The Scarlet Pimpernel'', a classic adventure film released in 1934, directed by Harold Young and produced by Alexander Korda. The movie is based on the 1905 novel of the same name by Baroness Emma Orczy and is set during the tumultuous period of the French Revolution.
The film's plot revolves around Sir Percy Blakeney, a seemingly foppish and shallow English aristocrat played by Leslie Howard. However, unbeknownst to everyone, including his own wife Lady Marguerite Blakeney, played by Merle Oberon, Sir Percy leads a double life as the enigmatic and heroic "Scarlet Pimpernel." Under this alter ego, he is the leader of a group of English noblemen dedicated to rescuing French aristocrats from the clutches of the guillotine during the Reign of Terror in France.
