"The Iron Curtain" is a 1948 American thriller film directed by William A. Wellman and was the first film to tackle the theme of the Cold War. The film stars Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney, with the plot based on the memoirs of Igor Gouzenko.

It's about Gouzenko, a code expert at the Soviet embassy in Ottawa, who is tested for his loyalty but remains true to his cause and his wife. The story unfolds with Gouzenko eventually deciding to defect by taking secret documents from the embassy, leading to the dismantling of a communist cabal in Canada. The family ends up living in hiding, protected by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but retaining their belief in the democratic way of life​​.
