About the artist:
Howard Terpning (born November 5, 1927, Oak Park, Illinois) is an American painter and illustrator known for his movie posters during the 1960s and 1970s and subsequent paintings of Native Americans.
After graduating from the Chicago Academy of Fine Art, he began a career as an illustrator. Next, he moved to New York, designing over 80 movie posters. Some of his recognized posters were for "The Guns of Navarone" (1961), "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962), "Cleopatra" (1963), "The Sound of Music" (1965), "Dr. Zhivago" (1965), "Cast a Giant Shadow" (1966), "A Man for All Seasons" (1966), "The Sand Pebbles" (1966), and the re-release of "Gone with the Wind" (1967).
